OPTIMA® equips Tennant cleaning machines with quick-charging batteries
Quick-charging batteries from OPTIMA® are now being used in the Tennant scrubbers T3 and T5, as well as in the S8 sweepers, providing more productivity and efficiency
The quick-charging batteries made by the battery manufacturer Johnson Controls guarantees high charging currents and rapid recharging: The OPTIMA® YellowTop® batteries are now being used for the walk-behind scrubbers T3 and T5, as well as the S8 sweepers produced by the global market leader Tennant – and this technology is also suitable for all other machines where batteries need to be recharged rapidly.
"Machine failures were until now mainly due to battery or charging problems. We were able to resolve this problem with the OPTIMA®. Our cleaning machines can now be used far more cost-effectively and efficiently than before", explained Martijn Oechies, Head of European Sales and Service at Tennant. Because the OPTIMA® batteries are predestined for frequent intermittent charging processes and are characterized by a significantly better current acceptance than normal batteries. "At the moment we have a rising demand for day cleaning. With the Johnson Controls batteries, we can make the cleaning machines available at all times", said Oechies.
Whether cleaning takes place on a daily basis or intermittently: "The productivity of cleaning machines can be significantly increased by OPTIMA® batteries", explained Thomas Ruthenberg, Marketing Manager for OPTIMA® Batteries. "We are focusing on the specific cleaning requirements with these batteries by enabling maintenance-free, simple operation, and offering an environmentally-friendly solution with optimal recycling capability."
With high-performance chargers, the batteries can be charged in less than 60 minutes. Other batteries need up to 12 hours to recharge. Even frequently interrupted charging processes cannot affect the OPTIMA®. So the cleaning machine can be used constantly during working hours and simply recharged during the operating personnel breaks. This saves valuable time and money.
Tennant has initially equipped its walk-behind T3 scrubber with the new rapid charging batteries. Further expansion to other scrubber and sweeper machines is proposed in the near future.
Sustainable efficiency
The rapid charging capability and the high number of cycles not only save real money over the long-term: They also protect the environment. The powerful OPTIMA® batteries enable "downsizing", i.e. the use of a smaller battery than before. This means that less lead and energy is already being used in the production of the batteries. "We are not only reducing CO2 emissions in our own production, but we have also developed a battery that can be 99 % recycled in an audited process. In addition, Johnson Controls is the worlds' biggest manufacturer with its own recycling factory", emphasized Dirk Pantle, Head of Sales and Marketing for OPTIMA® Batteries at Johnson Controls.
Economic, environmentally-friendly and efficient – the OPTIMA® battery from Johnson Controls is setting new standards and is now available in specialist shops.
